The first heavy truck swapping station in the Greater Bay Area was put into operation in Shenzhen

The first heavy-duty truck battery swapping station in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, China Southern Power Grid's "Fuhai Xinhe" battery swapping station, was put into operation recently in Shenzhen.

"Fuhai Xinhe" battery swapping station is located on Fuyong Avenue, Bao'an District, Shenzhen, adjacent to Fuyong Wharf, a large concrete batching plant wharf in Shenzhen, where the number of round trips of mixer trucks and muck trucks exceeds 5,000 per day. The battery swapping station covers an area of 2,557 square meters and is equipped with 8 300-kilowatt chargers. These chargers are like giant power banks that fully charge the removed batteries. The annual battery swapping power of the station can reach 9 million kWh, with an average of 150 battery swaps per day, and a single battery swap takes no more than 5 minutes, which effectively meets the power demand of heavy-duty trucks at Fuyong Wharf.

It is understood that "battery swapping" splits the electric vehicle and the battery. When the vehicle's power is low, drivers only need to go to a battery swapping station to replace it with a fully charged battery. For heavy-duty trucks, compared with the charging mode, the battery swapping mode can effectively solve pain points such as scarce charging parking spaces, large battery capacity, and long waiting time for charging, fully improve the utilization rate of heavy-duty trucks, and become an effective solution for energy supply for electrified heavy-duty trucks.

It is reported that this battery swapping station adopts top hoisting battery swapping technology, and its configured battery frame is compatible with battery-swapping heavy-duty truck models from nearly 20 leading automakers, and adapts to more than 40 models including mixer trucks, muck trucks, and tractors. At the same time, it is equipped with an intelligent vehicle operation system that automatically locates and monitors vehicles in the station to ensure the smooth and safe progress of vehicle battery swapping.

Next, Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid will cooperate with China Southern Power Grid Electric Vehicle Service Co., Ltd. to build a heavy-duty truck battery swapping network for the Greater Bay Area, form a multi-scenario and large-scale battery swapping industry covering cities, ports and other fields, continuously improve the charging and battery swapping service capacity, and serve green, low-carbon and circular development.
